Graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of the Arts
Awer, one of the Lost Boys of Sudan and VHBG alum, graduated from VCU School of the Arts in December 2009, becoming the first member of his family to not only graduate from college, but to receive a formal education of any kind. He has started his own nonprofit to help the people of Sudan and plans to go on to graduate school next year. "Being a student and being able to be part of Virginia Home for Boys and Girls are two things I will never forget in my life. VHBG will always remain a in my heart." – Awer
