Senior Systems Engineer at Wheat Systems
Before arriving at VHBG in 1995, Joel had endured a long series of miserable and unsuccessful placements. He was angry, bitter and withdrawn. He had no reason to believe it would be different here. But it was different. As Joel felt more secure, his abilities began to emerge and he became excited about what he could do. As his love for computers transferred to other subjects, his attitude improved and he returned to public school, graduating from J. R. Tucker High School in 2001. While attending J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College he worked at Wheat Systems where he is currently a Senior Systems Engineer.

Married in 2005, Joel and his wife Kim have a beautiful baby girl, Holly. Joey, who lived at VHBG with Joel, now lives with Joel and his family. When they left VHBG, Joel had promised Joey that he would always have a home with him.
