Teaching-Parents
Our campus has opportunities for married couples to become professional Teaching- Parents and live and work in a home with up to 8 adolescents ages 11-17. VHBG is a certified sponsor cite for the national Teaching-Family Model. Training is provided in this model of care and Teaching-Parents have opportunities, as they develop their skills, to become certified in the model. Responsibilities include: interacting with and consulting with various adults/professionals to develop successful life skills in the youth population, managing a house budget, providing a family-style atmosphere and advocating for all adolescents in your care. Relevant education in the human services field and/or experience with adolescents is preferred, but not required. The strong desire to create a lifestyle centered on working directly with adolescents in a supportive, nurturing home environment is a must.
Starting salary per couple of $51,600 includes free room and board and is complemented by an excellent benefits plan.
Alternate Teaching-Parent
Our Independent Living Program has an opening for an Alternate Teaching-Parent. Qualified candidates will work in conjunction with a Teaching-Parent couple and one additional Alternate to provide assistance in developing life skills in the adolescent boys, ages 11-17, currently living in the home. Successful candidates will have a strong desire and determination to improve the lives of adolescents. The position requires a flexible schedule with the ability to work overnight periods, weekends and holidays. Training is provided in the national Teaching-Family Model and opportunities for professional growth and certification are provided to Alternate Teaching-Parents as they develop their skills. At least 2 years of Residential experience working with at risk youth is strongly desired. A degree in a human services field is a plus.
All successful applicants will have a valid Virginia Driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. Criminal background checks, CPS registry checks and drug testing are required.
