Clinical Services includes therapeutic and health services
Therapeutic Services offers individual, group, and/or family therapy to augment the success of our other programs. All residents of Virginia Home for Boys and Girls, students at the John G. Wood School and residents of Pathfinder Independent Living and the shelter are eligible for therapeutic services. Therapists encourage dialogue and sharing to alleviate trauma related conditions, chronic maltreatment, grief or other life crises.
Therapy offers a high degree of success resulting in an increased sense of well-being and/or improvement in group relationships. Upon admission, the needs of each child are assessed and an initial therapeutic intervention plan is formulated.
Clinical staff currently includes one part time Clinical Manager, three full time therapists and one part time contractual therapist.
Health Services provides medical care for our boys and girls in the residential homes, shelter and the independent living home as well as students at the John G. Wood School while they are on campus. Health Services staff consists of one registered nurse, an LPN, a medical secretary and a driver to transport children to appointments. Over 100 doctors and 100 dentists in the community provide medical and dental care for VHBG residents.
